Argentine and Chilean Patagonia Model Forests held a two-day meeting in the Fall of 2004, in Esquel, Argentina, within the framework of the bi-national Treaty on the Environment and its Additional Specific Protocol on Cooperation in Forestry, to elaborate a joint work-plan proposal regarding cooperation between Argentine and Chilean Model Forests.
As a result of this meeting, the representatives of the Argentine National Model Forest Programme, and the Futaleufu, Norte de Neuquén (under development), Chiloé and Araucarias del Alto Malleco Model Forests agreed to:
  • Organize a meeting in 2005, at the Norte de Neuquén Model Forest, with an agreed agenda concerning issues of mutual interest;
  • Form a commission to propose a joint agenda based on the proposals made at this workshop; and
  • Promote the execution of joint projects.
