The National Model Forest Program of Argentina’s Environment and Sustainable Development Secretariat hosted the November meeting of the Board of Directors of the Regional Model Forest Network for Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC-Net). The meeting was held November 27-30 in Esquel within the Futaleufú Model Forest, located in the Patagonia region of Argentina. This was the first Board meeting for LAC-Net where Model Forest representatives had a direct voice and vote in the decision-making of the Board. The resolution to include a country representative of the Model Forests on the Board was voted on during the previous Board meeting in Dominican Republic in June 2006. David Neave, Interim General Manager of the new Canadian Model Forest Network, also attended to share Canada’s Model Forest experiences and future plans and to explore opportunities for collaboration with LAC-Net counterparts.
