The Municipality of Lanišće, the Istria Model Forest and the Babucera Association held their first edition of the Festival of Forests and Fruits in mid-November in Ćićarija, Brgudac, Croatia. Through forest art, forest therapy, pedagogic laboratories in the forest and gastronomy, the organizers advocated to their 2000 visitors the wide range of benefits and services forests can offer.
Designed to suit all generations, visitors from all ages participated in the festival along with the many conferences and workshops organized around forest benefits and services. This part of the Istrian region has traditionally lived exclusively on forestry. The organizers chose this site to promote the other services that the forest offers, namely tourist-recreational services, gastronomic offerings and forest health.
For the occasion and to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the IMFN, Ana Fornažar, leader of the Istria Model Forest Association, gave a presentation on the Model Forest concept and the IMFN. Inspired and motivated by the success of this first edition, the organizers are already preparing the 2023 edition of the festival to be held this time in Brest, at the foot of Žbevnica mountain.
You can take a glimpse of the 2022 edition and enjoy some of the best moments of this successful event watching the video, and visit the Istria Model Forest Facebook page to see pictures and to stay informed on the organization of the second edition.
