After a year of consultation within its partnership, the Parc Naturel Régional du Morvan (PNRM), in France’s Burgundy region, has joined the IMFN as an associate member. For the PNRM the largest attraction of membership in the IMFN is access to the IMFN’s window on a world of new and different ideas and approaches to sustainable forest management. For the IMFN, of course, the participation of the PNRM enriches the pool of experience and expertise in SFM.
Meetings and a joint study took place in 2005 to consider the PNRM against the attributes of the IMFN. The conclusions showed a remarkable consistency of conceptual and operational approaches between the two. As a participant in the IMFN we look forward to identifying areas of interest for reciprocal exchange and learning. Already several collaborative ideas have been proposed between French and Canadian representatives, which will hopefully take form in 2007.
Welcome to our French colleagues!
